In a one-to-one scale, Permeations if a Dataset references the quadrat used by the Synthetic Collective to survey for plastic pellets on Great Lakes beaches. Each of the 7,268 plastic pellets included in this piece were collected by hand from the surface of a 1 x 10 m quadrat of a public beach in Sarnia, Ontario. Each pellet has been measured and visually described in a slow manual process, reanimated here in a form emulating a strand line, the interface between land and water where debris is deposited on a shore. The piece is layered with found building and packing materials, which show a range in the effects of time and exposure, from puffy and supple, to rigid, photo-oxidized, and fragmented.

Salvaged nylon mesh tile backing, nylon cable ties, hail-damaged polycarbonate roofing, photodegraded corrugated plastic, pre-consumer plastic pellets, various fragments of plastic pollution, fake cigarette filters (vegetable starch, mulberry paper, rice glue) speaker and sound (6 minute loop)
